TRAVEL
MLT students attend general education courses at their
home campus, but MLT core courses are taught at the SICCM/ MLT
lab/classroom. Clinical rotations are completed in the last portions of the
second year's semesters - after completion of related MLT courses. Clinical
rotations require travel to clinical affiliates which are located throughout
the SICCM region including Centralia to Paducah, Kentucky and Chester to
Eldorado. Completion of the program may require travel up to one hour or
more to clinical affiliates and to the SICCM/MLT student lab/classroom. A
complete list of clinical affiliates is available in the MLT Program
Admission Packet.
EXPENSES
Costs will vary among the four participating
institutions. For further information consult individual college catalogues.
Students will be responsible for:
FINANCIAL AID
A variety of financial aid exists at each of the four
participating colleges. The applicant should contact the Financial Aid
Office at the college to which he/she is applying. Some of the types of
financial aid presently offered are:
PROFESSIONAL ADVANCEMENT
A certified Medical Laboratory Technician who earns a
baccalaureate degree and either has three years of experience or attends a
NAACLS accredited Medical Technologist Program, can become a Medical

BACCALAUREATE OPTION
Upon completion of an Associate Degree in the Medical
Laboratory Technology Program, students will qualify to apply for admission
into one of two baccalaureate degree programs at Southern Illinois
University Carbondale in the College of Applied Sciences and Arts (CASA).
Students may select either a degree in Advanced Technical Studies, a
generalized major, or Health Care Management, which emphasizes supervision.
Students may qualify for the Capstone Option. For additional information,
