ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 

The SICCM OTA Program admission process does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, or the presence of a non-job-related condition or disability. Each college does give preference to its in-district students. The application procedures for the OTA program are the same for John A Logan College, Rend Lake College, Kaskaskia College, Southeastern Illinois College, and Shawnee Community College.  Students may apply at only one community college for entrance into a program.  

A.

Graduate (or anticipate graduation by college entrance) from an approved high school or demonstrate equivalent competency

(G.E.D. examination).  

 

B.

Satisfy all general entrance requirements for admission to the college to which you have applied prior to the application deadlines for the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program. Each college's general admission requirements and process are described in its catalog. 

 

 

C.

 

Take the Health Occupation Aptitude Examination - Revised. It will be given at least three times annually on each campus. The first test will be administered in October, the second in February, and the third in March for entrance into the program the following fall semester. Submit completed OTA application and official documents to the college.  Application for admission to the OTA program is coordinated at each specific college by the offices listed above. The annual deadline for the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program Application, official transcripts, and exam scores is March 31. It is the applicant's responsibility to assure that these documents have been received by the college by that date. 

The following must be on file in the designated office of the college to which you are applying by March 31:

1.Completed OTA Application Form

2. Health Occupation Aptitude Examination - Revised results

3. Official transcripts of previous college experience 

 

 

E.

 

Achieve a competitive selection score for the college, based upon the Health Occupations Aptitude Examination - Revised test results and weighted grades for previous college coursework taken within, or transferring to, the Occupational Therapy Assistant required curriculum. The five top-scoring applicants on each campus are awarded admission. required curriculum.

 

 

F.

 

Upon notification and acceptance of admission, complete a successful physical examination, required vaccination and immunization series, and 16 hours of job shadowing prior to the beginning of coursework. Valid CPR , drug check, background check and current medical insurance are required to participate in field work experiences.
