SICCM OTA PROGRAM OBJECTIVES 

For completion of this Occupational Therapy Assistant Program, the student must be able to demonstrate the entry-level competencies for working as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Students of Southern Illinois Collegiate Common Market Occupational Therapy Assistant Program will: 

 

1.

Complete program coursework and fieldwork successfully, 

2.

 Pass national certification examination for occupational therapy assistant upon graduation, 

3.

 Demonstrate ability to provide high quality entry-level occupational therapy assistant services, under the necessary supervision of an occupational therapist, in consumer and client-care environments, 

4.

 Incorporate values and attitudes congruent with the profession's core values and code of ethics. 

5.

Demonstrate the understanding of need for life-long personal and professional growth, 

6.

Recognize employment opportunities in traditional and non-traditional settings.

From the class of 2008, one student has not taken the exam at this time and two of the students passed the exam on their third attempt.

From the class of 2009, three students passed the exam on the second attempt.

One student from the class of 2010 has failed the NBCOT exam twice.  One student has yet to take the exam.
