HERRIN CLIENT SERVICES SPECIALIST/OFFICE MANAGER

The Southern Illinois Collegiate Common Market (SICCM) has a vacancy at the Herrin office for a part-time (potential full-time), Client Services Specialist/Office Manager providing case management services to Illinois Department of Correction clients and managing the office.  Applicant should have expertise in Social Services and working with ex-offenders.  This position reports to the Life Skills Coordinator, who reports to the SICCM Executive Director/Board of Directors.  The Herrin Client Services Specialist/Office Manager assists the Life Skills Coordinator with the day-to-day operations of the UCAN office.

Position requires a demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the SICCM mission and philosophy, demonstrated understanding of and commitment to teamwork, process leadership, and consensus decision making, excellent oral and written and communication skills, demonstrated proficiency in organizing and planning, and excellent leadership skills.   

The Herrin Client Services Specialist, assistant to Life Skills Coordinator, has the following duties and responsibilities:

  1. Prepare reports as requested by the Life Skills Coordinator.
  2. Attend meetings and summits as assigned by the Life Skills Coordinator.
  3. Provide client services consisting of job referrals, education referrals, housing assistance, basic needs assistance, counseling referrals, resume preparation, and other duties as deemed necessary for the client.
  4. Develop job resources for UCAN clients in the Southern Illinois region, including establishing contacts with local employers.
  5. Initiate and maintain contact with local social service agencies, employers, and educational entities for purposes of client networking and inclusion in summits.
  6. Provide follow along case management for open client cases and maintain direct client contact with the area ex-offender population.
  7. Maintain and update resource database of local agencies, employers, and educators that network with UCAN.
  8. Assist in the planning and performance of area Summits of Hope events.
  9. Recruit volunteers and interns from local universities and colleges for assistance at summits.
  10. Determine eligibility of clients to be considered closed cases.
  11. Perform all clerical duties of the UCAN office.
  12. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Life Skills Coordinator.

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, preferred.

Experience working with ex-offenders, preferred.

Four years’, full-time, strong community-based grant administration experience, required. 

Ability to collect, manage and provide accuracy in reporting of data.

Proven strong written and oral communication skills. 

Some travel required.

Ability to meet deadlines.

Background check and drug screening required.
