Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT)

Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs) examine and analyze clinical specimens such as blood and body fluids to help in the discovery, diagnosis, and treatment of disease.  The MLT Program provides extensive training, including clinical rotations with supervised work experience. This qualifies graduates to run clinical tests required by physicians to make life-altering decisions in patient care.

The role of the MLT requires an understanding of scientific principles and theories, the ability to perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures with precision, the ability to scrutinize data for accuracy and the ability to identify and correct problems.  As a MLT, employment is available in hospitals, clinics, physician offices, reference laboratories, and public health facilities.
